Our Story

Our story is one of passion, perseverance, and partnerships. For Tom, our co-founder, the love for construction started early. At just 16, he worked alongside his father in the family business, learning the art of building from the ground up. Even during challenging times, his passion never wavered.

Together, Tom and Cynthia took the existing Lighting company into its next chapter, combining Tom’s construction expertise with my background in business. This partnership laid the foundation for what AQLighting has become today—a trusted name in the lighting industry.

Leadership with Vision

Cynthia Piana, President of AQLighting Group Commercial, a Certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE), brings unparalleled expertise and passion to the team. Before joining AQLighting, Cynthia ran a highly successful Los Angeles interior design firm, growing it from $3,000 in initial funding to a multi-million-dollar enterprise. Her work gained national recognition, being featured on HGTV and in prominent design publications like the Robb Report, California Homes, etc.

In 2008, Cynthia transitioned to the commercial lighting industry, bringing her client-first philosophy to AQLighting. Her extensive experience as a consultant and advisor has allowed her to forge lasting partnerships with developers, architects, designers, specifiers, general contractors, and electrical contractors. Cynthia’s meticulous approach includes attending major international lighting shows in Hong Kong, Milan, Germany, and across the United States. By touring factories and sourcing top-quality materials, she ensures that every product meets the highest standards.
